When Martha M. Boeing was born on June 6, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, her father, Bernard, was 41, and her mother, Elizabeth, was 35. She was the fifth of six children. Martha married Alfred E. Duwel on August 31, 1951. They had four children: Jerry, Maryann, Laura and John.
